Ben Nevis - Climbing for Jimmy

On Saturday May 30th 2015, 3 members of Grove Park Kent Lodge, Keith Everson, Dean Gale and Steve Roberts took on the Ben Nevis challenge with 10 other climbers. The group all 'Climbing for Jimmy' to raise awareness and funds for the Foundation for Jimmy. Included in the group were Jimmy's mum Margaret and brothers Billy and George.

All 13 of our group made it to the summit. Quite an achievement because as we ascended the mountain, we kept being told by those descending the mountain that there was too much ice and snow and we would not make it all the way up. But we ploughed on step by step, stone by stone and eventually the clouds cleared and we made it to the summit.

Nobody told us about getting down off the mountain which, as it turns out is just as tough as getting up it. In total it took us 13 hours to get up and safely back down. Tired and aching but more importantly proud that all of our group "Climbing for Jimmy" all reached the summit and got back down safely.
